“Women think of all colors except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.”

-Coco Chanel

It’s Wednesday and this week we’re talking about all white ensembles! Whether or not you think it’s okay to wear it after Labor Day, you can’t ignore the simplicity and elegance of an all white outfit. As displayed in the pictures above, the absence of color is just as fabulous as they come. It’s also easy to accessorize or go overboard with some other part of the outfit. All white outfits are also great to do a pop of color for a shoe, bag or even your jewelry! White also looks good in both a casual and formal setting. Going out to a formal ball or party? Look for an all white gown and color block your bag and shoes. Going out to the mall with the girls? Try white denim or shorts with a sheer white top and find a big colored statement necklace to offset your clothes. You can even do the all white trend during the colder months. Take those white denim you wear in the summer and pair it with an oversized-sweater and then add a printed scarf. There’s plenty of options for you to rock this look during any season or occasion. Go look in your closet and see what you have to try this trend!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!  I cannot begin to explain to you the amount of excitement that shot through my body as I saw this simple, yet perfect Disney teaser of their next movie-remake of Cinderella. This past weekend, I went to see Disney’s Maleficient and while it was an amazing reproduction of the original cartoon story we all remember, I believe this will be even better! Watch the video and tell me what you think.. are you as excited as I am? …probs not.

Jesus is our Peace

Knowing God through His Word ... Day by Day

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility  Ephesians 2:13-14

Coty Pinckney on Ephesians 2:11-22

In addition to each of us being dead in our trespasses and sins, we Gentiles are not part of God’s chosen people. How could these great blessings outlined in Chapter 1 apply to us?

Paul answers that question in these verses,(Eph. 2:11-22) telling us to remember one thing, and to know two things. The rest of our time together this morning will be structured around these three themes:

  • Remember what you were! (verses 11 and 12)
  • Know what Christ did to change this! (verses 13-18)
  • Know what you are now! (verses 19-22)

What God has promised, God will perform

Knowing God through His Word ... Day by Day

J.C.Ryle on Zechariah’s Song in Luke 1:67-80

We should notice, secondly, in this hymn of praise, how much emphasis Zachariah lays on God’s fulfillment of His promises. He declares that God has “visited and redeemed his people,” speaking of it in the manner of the prophets as a thing already accomplished, because sure to take place. He goes on to proclaim the instrument of this redemption–“a horn of salvation”–a strong Savior of the house of David. And then he adds that all this is done, “as He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophet, to perform the mercy promised, to remember His holy covenant, and the oath which He swore to our father Abraham.”

It is clear that the souls of Old Testament believers fed much on God’s promises. They were obliged to walk by faith far more than we are. They knew nothing of the great…

Today, on the heels of my I-don’t-want-to-post-photos-of-my-outfits post, I give you… A photo of my outfit.

I’m a complicated woman.

Today was one of those days that was supposed to be like any other Thursday, but unexpectedly turned into an awesome one.

My baby brother called me at the shop late yesterday afternoon to invite me to his 5th grade graduation this morning. My day started bright and early at his elementary school, choked up and weirdly emotional about the whole thing: slideshows with cute kids and good music are my kryptonite; I can’t believe he’s going to middle school; I wish I had more time to spend with him; and, really, he may as well be going to college.

I’m so grateful that I was able to be there. Time is going way too fast!

When I cruised into the shop sometime around noon, my superstar staff had it…

June Desires: Summer Reads

Live, Love, & READ

Summer Reads
I really enjoy reading! Sadly I haven’t had much time to enjoy it because of life craziness. The last I book I “actually” completed was Lean In by Sheryl Sandburg it took me 7 months to finish it and now I am reading The Fault In Our Stars like a crazy person so I can go see the movie this weekend! Any who, I share all of this to say that I plan on reading a good bit this summer! Here’s a couple of books that absolutely have to read before summer is over. Do you have any other suggestions on what else I should snag from the book store? If so, drop a comment or two below!

Seeking God

Knowing God through His Word ... Day by Day

With my whole heart I seek you;

let me not wander from your commandments!

I have stored up your word in my heart,

that I might not sin against you. Psalm 119:10-11

The Valley of Vision, “Longings After God.”

My dear Lord,

I can but tell thee that thou knowest
I long for nothing but thyself,
nothing but holiness,
nothing but union with thy will.
Thou hast given me these desires,
and thou alone canst give me the thing desired.
My soul longs for communion with thee,
for mortification of indwelling corruption,
especially spiritual pride.
How precious it is to have a tender sense
and clear apprehension of the mystery
of godliness,
of true holiness!
What a blessedness to be like thee
as much as it is possible for a creature
to be like its Creator!
Lord, give me more of thy likeness;
enlarge my soul to contain fullness…

No place where HIS power does not hold sway

Knowing God through His Word ... Day by Day

“Which is his body, the fullness of him [i.e., Christ] who fills all in all.” Ephesians 1:23

John Piper explains-

So Christ fills all in all. Or as the present tense and the middle voice imply: Christ is now filling for himself all in all.

I take this to mean that Christ is filling every sphere of existence everywhere in the universe in all the ways he pleases. The best guide for what this means that “Christ fills all in all” is found here in the immediate context of verses 20–22 and in 4:8–10. Look at that text first.

Something He Does with His Authority as Risen Ruler

Paul is talking about the way Christ rose from the dead and ascended into heaven; and in doing so he broke the bonds of death and captured for himself a host of captives, and led them free from sin and…
